Project Description
Since 2018, Efata Bali School is well-regarded by the locals for its commitment to providing excellent education and strong moral values. Additionally, it has become a preferred option for disadvantaged families and even some professionals from outside the area seeking quality education for their children.
Over the past two academic years, we have seen a growing interest in enrolment, from 100 students to the current 180 students in November 2024. The school continues to provide quality education from Pre-Kindergarten to Primary 5 – however there is a community need to expand the school to provide more opportunities to students from disadvantaged families and background, and provide secondary schooling. In January 2025, Efata Bali School received a “Level A” accreditation rating from the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture – the highest possible rating. AOC is humbled to witness Efata Bali School is pursuing the AOC Way of alleviating poverty by providing quality education to young children, significantly benefiting the local communities.
As a result, AOC is launching ‘Efata Site Expansion Project’; proposing to expand or relocate the school to a new site where a purpose-built facility can be constructed. The project is crucial, to be able to facilitate up to 400 students, and provide secondary schooling for the students up to Year 12. This project will also benefit the local community by providing more opportunities for teachers and staff to do what they love here. We invite everyone to participate in making a change to the future generations for better lives.
The project involves three key stages:
- Legal Due Diligence & Planning: In the first stage, we aim to raise funds to engage contractors to design a purpose-built facility, and conduct thorough legal due diligence on land acquisitions in Bali with the help of a local legal advisor. UPDATE: Through AOC’s partnership with Oikos Church in March 2025 for ‘AOC GALA 2025’ – approximately $17,500 AUD was raised to fund the first key stage of this Project. Thank you Oikos Church and all sponsors and volunteers involved.
- Land Acquisition: Once the legal due diligence is complete and deemed feasible, we will move to the second stage, with the acquisition of a land or long-term lease (minimum 20 years). This stage will involve raising funds to meet the budget of $150,000 AUD. A fundraising strategy has commenced in June 2025 with the goal of completing this stage by end of 2025.
- Construction: The final stage will involve raising funds to construct the new purpose-built school building to fit up to 400 students and provide secondary schooling up to Year 12. This stage will involve raising funds to meet the budget of $300,000 AUD.
A project team has been established to oversee these stages and provide detailed updates to all stakeholders and partners – lead by David Hidayat, Jay Chin and Wira Panjaitan.
We are eager to collaborate with you to bring this project to life, as it holds the potential to greatly improve the lives of many. Together, we can make a lasting difference.
